Concerts in Almaty: from the Palace of the Republic to open-air stages

Almaty is the first stop on nearly every Central Asian tour. The big names play the Palace of the Republic and Almaty Arena; smaller formats take the Baluan Sholak Sports Palace and the clubs downtown. In summer the programme moves outdoors — the First President’s Park and the foothill sites host the largest open-airs of the year.

Tickets for a notable concert sell in two waves: on announcement day, and a week before the date, when the support act is confirmed and seating opens. If the hall has a standing floor, the difference between an early and a late ticket is usually the seat, not the right to get in.
