Football in the city means the Central Stadium and Kairat at home; on European nights the stands fill long before kick-off. Indoor sport lives in Almaty Arena and Halyk Arena: hockey, basketball, combat sports, gymnastics.
Winter adds high-altitude Medeu — public skating and speed-skating meets — while spring and autumn hand the streets over to mass runs. For a seated fixture a late ticket almost always means the upper tier: the central sectors go first.
